LASER

TRUMPF machines repay their owners with quality output and a long service life ...

In 1984 the then Austin-Rover company installed a TC180WL ' Laserpress', a combined punch and laser profiling machine. It was part of their investment for the launch of the 'Montego', and with it they pioneered, at their Swindon plant, the use of laser-hardening for tool production - a technology now used by most car manufacturers or their suppliers.

The original 3rd-party laser used on this machine was replaced in 1988 by a TRUMPF TLF750 watt turbo laser, the first laser retrofit and the first turbo-laser installation in the UK. In addition to its initial tool-making requirement, every year the machine produces many hundred thousand directly profiled 'smaller-volume' items.

Over the years, it has made millions of such parts for the many different car models under a number of different ownerships. Under it's present owners, Swindon Pressings Limited - with more than 135,000 hours 'on-the-clock' - it still works an average of more than 7,000 hours per year.

As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for. TRUMPF machines may not be the cheapest, but they repay their owners with quality output and a long service life.
