NEW AUTOMATION MODULES FOR BENDING CELLS

The TRUMPF BendMaster automated materials handling system that increases the productivity of the TruBend Series 5000 press brakes now has even greater cost-saving potential thanks to the introduction of two new modules.

BendMaster processes and stacks the sheet according to the schedule, feeds the machine blanks as well as sorts and stacks the finished parts. Thanks to its combination of gripper and vacuum technology BendMaster covers a wide product range from very small to large components with a maximum weight of 40kg.

The first new automation module with new mechanical gripper allows parts up to DIN A4 format size weighing up to 2kg to be formed automatically; installation is easy via a pneumatic gripper coupling. An additional sliding axis significantly reduces re-gripping time by 15 seconds per cycle.

The other new option for the TruBend Series 5000 is a conveyor belt and Euro pallet conveyor. The conveyor belt allows the automated unloading of non-stackable components such as boxes or workpieces with complex bends in parallel with production. The pallet conveyor allows Euro pallets to be moved in and out of the cell, again without interrupting the bending process. A single controller serves both elements.

The TruBend Series 5000 and the BendMaster itself are also operated from a single control unit and both are programmed with TruTops Bend. BendMaster’s integrated sheet sensor ensures that the exact positioning of the sheet metal stack is detected

and the single sheets are input correctly. An additional positioning station is therefore not required.

Thanks to the modular construction of the BendMaster’s floor tracks, extensions of up to 14m are possible. With the introduction of the new modules, the range of material handling options now available with this system allows the creation of optimal bending cell to suit the application.
