NO NEED FOR FINISHING

Tool edging was a costly problem for Mainframe Fabrications before the arrival of its new TRUMPF TC2000 punch press. As the company’s existing turret machine could not provide the quality required almost 25% of production work had to be sent out for laser cutting.

Located in Billericay, Mainframe Fabrications provides a subcontracting service to a broad spectrum of industrial sectors. In its relatively short life the company has built a sound reputation on high quality work and fast turnaround. To maintain this status and grow his business MD Gary Brogan recognised that he had to remove the need for secondary finishing.

“We mainly handle small batches down to one-offs in stainless, aluminium and brass up to 4mm thick. So choosing a machine that was easy to set up and economical to run was vital,” Gary Brogan explained. The Trumatic TC2000 embraced these qualities. “Rotation of all tools has given us great flexibility.”

By investing in a machine whose output is of the quality standard required Gary has boosted profitability and eliminated potential outsourcing delays. “The TC2000 has already opened the door to new opportunities for us,” Gary concludes. “We’re taking it slowly and gradually adding new operations such as forming and tapping to our TC2000. The machine has given us instant capacity and potential.”
