EXCELLENT YEAR FOR TRUMPF

Sales surge group-wide .......

This trend was mirrored in the UK with TRUMPF Limited recording a 16% increase in turnover in the same period.

“We are extremely satisfied with the overall development. Despite the slumping economy in Germany, we were still able to hit double-digit growth. In the US and in Eastern Europe, we benefited from a very favorable investment climate. And Western Europe, which has suffered from a weak economy during the last three years, showed substantial improvement,“ commented Professor Berthold Leibinger, President of the TRUMPF Group, on the regions where the company experienced growth.

The Group’s Machine Tool business division widened its lead worldwide by recording sales of about € 1.2 billion. This is an increase of about 16 percent. The TRUMPF Electronic/Medical Technology and Power Tools business divisions also recorded high rates of growth.

The company is expecting a considerable increase in earnings. In the 2003/2004 fiscal year, earnings before taxes amounted to € 92 million. The number of employees increased worldwide by 4 percent to more than 6,100. In Germany TRUMPF created 67 new jobs, outside Germany 161.

With investment in research and development running at an all time high, TRUMPF continues to introduce new products to give its customers greater competitive edge. At the forthcoming In-Tech 2005 Open House at Luton, TRUMPF will again be launching brand new machines.

They include the new L3040 flatbed laser whose new drive concept greatly reduces processing times and costs. For thin sheet production increases of 30% are quite possible on this machine. Another newcomer will be TRUMPF’s new robot welding cell, the TrumaWeld L1000.

“Year on year our customers expect to see new technology from TRUMPF,” explained Brian Lewis, Managing Director of TRUMPF Limited. “And at this year’s Open House they will certainly not be disappointed.” Invitations will be posted during August but anyone wishing to register for the event can do so via www.uk.trumpf.com
